Former WVU QB Khalil Wilkins Commits to Join Marshall

Once hoping to be the future of one West Virginia school, Khalil Wilkins will now strive to be the leader of another.

On Sunday, Wilkins announced he’s leaving WVU to transfer to Marshall with a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Wilkins, who initially joined the Mountaineers as a 2024 recruit of Neal Brown’s staff, gained some opportunities to play during the 2025 season. He even started a game at BYU.

Wilkins finished his debut start 7-for-15 through the air for just 81 yards and two interceptions. With most of the plays called as designed runs, Wilkins also added 89 yards on the ground off 23 rushing attempts and a score.

“Play hard. He was a freshman in that kind of environment,” said WVU head coach Rich Rodriguez about Wilkins’ play after the game.

“I thought he was into the game. I think he would like to have a lot of plays back, but I also think he competed his tail off,” Rodriguez added.

Overall throughout the 2025 season, Wilkins threw for 185 yards, a touchdown and the two picks. He did not appear in a game in 2024.

Wilkins was a three-star recruit out of Upper Marlboro, Md. He was ranked as the No. 22 quarterback in his class by ESPN.
