That's a design decision by Luke Ross. The advantage of using gamepad controls is that the in-game help and tutorials work. There is the free VorpX software for Cyberpunk available that provides motion controller support.

Not necessarily, since his software is not a "mod" in the traditional meaning of the term but rather a software package that allows 30-40 games on a VR display instead of a monitor. I think they should have approached him to make his software an official DLC with some form of revenue sharing as they most probably have no plans to themselves develop VR support for Cyberpunk.

"Then a little company with vision came along its name was Steam (do you know them). " Honestly, no. I have never heard of a company named Steam. You might mean Valve, who launched a store named Steam after several years of making games for traditional retail sale. nVidia predates Valve, though. AMD does too, but they didn't make 3D accelerators back then. They got into that market by buying ATi... who also predates Valve(ATi predates nVidia, even). So does 3DFX. And 3D Labs. And all the other 3D accelerator companies that have faded away, forgotten as people try to pretend the modern market is just how things have always been and not deeply unhealthy. "Small minded Microsoft used to say computers don't need fancy graphics cards. " Microsoft didn't make computers. They made software FOR computers, and were in no position to dictate the hardware platform. They supported fancy graphics cards as soon as there were fancy graphics available to support. There's plenty of DOS games that support 3D accelerators even though MS-DOS didn't support 3D accelerators, because software under DOS took over the machine and spoke directly to the hardware, so game support was not remotely contingent on OS support. While this was not a problem for users of older Windows versions that ran atop MS-DOS, making Windows 95 a viable target for game developers was a major goal because it was the beginning of an ultimately-successful attempt to migrate people off of MS-DOS and replace it completely with Windows NT. "Do you see a pattern. Have I taught you anything." Yes. That you don't actually know the history you are preaching about.

It is notable that in the mid-80s, Microsoft was not a hardware company, nor did they have the clout to introduce standards. As you note, IBM introduced standards back then, and as soon as there was an accelerator to support, they supported accelerators. It wasn't sour grapes, it was working with the platform they had. "The platform we're on doesn't have this hardware, so we can't support things that don't exist" is…

One aspect of using an XR2 over the regular SD8 soc is the amount of cameras it can simultaneously handle... Since Lynx is geared towards XR, this makes sense.
