Bayern Munich execs set to make decision on Max Eberl’s future before this season ends
Max Eberl has been board member for sport at Bayern Munich since March of 2024 after he had been dismissed from his role at RB Leipzig once Die Roten Bullen had accepted the fact that he would be focusing his efforts on his move to Bayern. There was a bit of a baptism by fire for Eberl, as one of his first major tasks as the new board member for sport was to handle the contract negotiations and extensions for Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala, and Joshua Kimmich — no easy feat for someone who had left his role as sporting director at Borussia Mönchengladbach for what he had referred to as severe burnout and exhaustion. Nonetheless, Eberl has taken decent hold of his responsibilities as board member for sport at Bayern and it’s hard to argue against just how well the team is currently performing under Vincent Kompany on the heels of winning another Bundesliga title last season. Missing out on getting Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen when he chose to join Liverpool instead of Bayern, at the time, was perceived as a bit of a stain on Eberl’s résumé, but the success of Luis Díaz this season has significantly alleviated any lingering sense of missing the boat with Wirtz. Per information from Sport Bild’s Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern’s supervisory board is set to come together and make a decision on Eberl’s future by the end of this year at the very latest. His current contract with the club runs through June 2027 and internally, it is felt that the club is leaning towards offering him an extension. The summer transfer window was reportedly a period where he was heavily under the microscope from the club’s hierarchy, but much like the front office, the Bayern bosses are happy with where the squad is at and they’ve only just welcomed back Davies from a long-term injury with Musiala soon set to make a return to action from a long layover of his own. Additionally, Eberl was a key player in getting Jonathan Tah to sign from Leverkusen and subsequently negotiating the deal to have him released from Die Werkself on time to join Bayern for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. Right now, he’s spearheading efforts to get new deals over the line for Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry, and Harry Kane and all signs are pointing to the trio of players agreeing to want to stay — more factors that bode quite well for Eberl with regard to the supervisory board deciding on his future soon.

Report: Bayern Munich wants new winger regardless of potential Serge Gnabry extension
According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich will be pursuing a new wingers regardless of what happens with Serge Gnabry. It was thought that a contract extension for Gnabry would limit the need for acquiring a new winger, but it seems Bayern Munich will be in the market for one — maybe RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande 0r FC Köln’s Said El Mala — even if Gnabry inks a new deal: Regardless of Serge Gnabry’s upcoming renewal, Bayern are determined to sign a new winger, preferably a left-winger. The current focus is on Yan Diomande and Said El Mala, depending on their availability and the price in the summer. If Bayern Munich really does want Diomande, though, the competition will be fierce. According to Fabrizio Romano (via @iMiaSanMia), Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are expected to take a run at the 19-year-old: Bayern, Manchester United and PSG are sending representatives to follow Yan Diomande. Tottenham already tried for this month but it wasn’t possible. Leipzig insist the winger will not leave in January, but it’s going to be a different story in the summer. It look like Bayern Munich will be tapping into its war chest once again this summer. Report: Leon Goretzka’s departure from Bayern Munich is becoming more certain
Leon Goretzka has been struggling this season. Bayern Munich’s #8 has been relegated to the bench during the Bavarians’ big Champions League matches in favor of young upstart Aleksandar Pavlović and even lost his place to Tom Bischof in a recent 8-1 victory over VfL Wolfsburg. This, added to the persistent rumors that Bayern see offloading Goretzka’s contract as a good way to achieve the big goal of a reduction in wages, sees the 2020 sextuple winner on the fringes heading into the final 6 months of his contract. Usually, that kind of situation only has one outcome. And increasingly, it seems Goretzka will be facing that same outcome. Bild reports, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, that he could be leaving soon: Leon Goretzka’s summer departure is getting more and more concrete. The club’s bosses have signalled to Goretzka’s management that the tendency is towards not offering him a new deal, even though the talks have yet to be concluded. If he were to leave in the summer, the German will have completed eight years at Die Rekordmeister. No matter what happens, Goretzka leaves behind a rich legacy at the club.
