Update: Bayern Munich star Konrad Laimer expected to miss 3-4 weeks

According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Kerry Hau, Bayern Munich star Konrad Laimer will miss three-to-four weeks:

Konrad Laimer (muscle fiber tear in the left calf) will be sidelined for FC Bayern for about three to four weeks.

If — and it is a big if — Joshua Kimmich is healthy this weekend, he could man the right-back position, otherwise…Vincent Kompany could lean on veteran Raphaël Guerreiro.

Per a release from FCBayern.com, Bayern Munich star Konrad Laimer has suffered a torn muscle fiber in his left calf and will be out “for the time being.” Laimer pulled up lame in the second half of Bayern Munich’s 3-1 Bundesliga victory over FC Köln:

FC Bayern will have to do without Konrad Laimer for the time being. The 28-year-old suffered a torn muscle fiber in his left calf during Wednesday evening’s Bundesliga away game at 1. FC Köln (3-1). This was confirmed by an examination carried out by FC Bayern’s medical department.

Normally, Bayern Munich could handle this kind of injury, but the right-back situation is a little bleak at the moment. Josip Stanišić (knee), Sacha Boey (illness), and Joshua Kimmich (ankle) are all currently out of commission, though Kimmich could potentially return this weekend vs. RB Leipzig.

It is not ideal, but head coach Vincent Kompany surely has worked through his options to cover for Laimer.

There is no word on an exact timeframe for Laimer’s recovery just yet.
