Tens of thousands of people have crossed the Channel in small boats so far this year (Picture: Carl Court/Getty Images) The UK will stop automatically providing accommodation and other support to asylum seekers, as part of a major overhaul to the migration system. Currently, there is a legal duty under EU law to provide financial assistance to anyone who arrives in the country and claims asylum. Under the package…

I asked the universe to make me rich — now I earn up to £20,000 per month

Sharan Sammi works as a money manifestation coach (Picture: Supplied) Welcome back to Me and My Money, Metro’s series taking a peek into the nation’s wallets and bank accounts. This week we meet manifesting money mentor Sharan Sammi, 44, who lives in Wolverhampton with husband Gursh, 47 and two children. Sharan worked in banking for two decades, before changing direction to become a ‘money mindset and abundance mentor’. While some might think it sounds a little ‘woo woo’, her business — in which she teaches women how to ask the universe to make them rich — can pull in anything from £6,000 to £20,000 per month. Hi Sharan, tell us about your relationship with money growing up. I came from an Indian background. My mum and dad were liberal because they’d both had strict upbringings. Whilst I always got what I needed, and we didn’t have to worry about money, because both earned well, I was taught to appreciate what we had. From an early age, my mum would talk to me about money, interest rates and saving and my dad would show me the accounts from his shop. From the age of 16 I started working multiple jobs, including as a waitress, in telesales and cashier for HSBC, alongside my studies. Sharan says the sceptics soon change their minds (Picture: Supplied) To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Up Next Previous Page Next Page When did you learn about manifesting? I’d used manifesting from childhood, entering competitions and believing I’d win, which I often did. Then aged 22, while working at National Australia Bank, I bought a self-development book ‘The Rules of Work’, by Richard Templar, for £9.99. It changed my life. I learnt about the art of gratitude, affirmation and to emulate the person I wanted to become, so I started making a deliberate effort, turning up to work in a suit and with my hair up, and reading the Financial Times. People at work asked if I was going for a job interview at first, but when the management saw I was serious, I progressed. Manifestation led me to promotions, relocations and huge salary increases. In one instance, after telling the Universe I wanted a promotion in Birmingham, I was thrilled to be offered one, with a pay rise from £22,000 to £36,000. I had intentionally manifested it for myself, through self belief and confidence, and I was delighted. In my spare time, I trained in coaching and healing so I could help other women be successful. When did you turn manifestation into a career? After returning to work from maternity leave with my second child in 2018, I realised I wasn’t happy. I wanted to change my career path, but I didn’t feel confident enough to do it straight away. In January 2020 I was made redundant and it was one of the best days of my life. I was offered a six-figure pay-out, which I used for various investments, as well as my own coaching and personal development. My husband took the day off work and we went out and bought a new television and a new super king size bed! It was a magical time for me and an important turning point. The redundancy gave me the push I needed to finally start out as a money manifestation mentor. Sharan's monthly money diary Income per month: £6,000 – £20,000 Outgoings: £5,711 Mortgage: £1000 Council tax: £208 Water rates: £58 My phone: £75 Energy: £210 Investments: £1,000 Transport: £75 Internet: £40 Streaming: £15 Netflix, prime £8.33, Disney £5 TV licence: £15 Life insurance: £150 Work related expenses: £740 Groceries: £250 Childcare: £478 Savings/sinking funds (holidays/christmas/birthdays/fun money/eating out): £600 takeaways, £1,000 holiday fun fund What is a money manifesting coach? I ask my clients to consider where they are currently in their life and direct them to look at their relationship with themselves, which mirrors the relationship they have with money. I help them build a dream budget, working to break down and heal any subconscious mental blocks they have around…

You need to ejaculate HOW many times a month to help prevent prostate cancer?

Two separate studies saw significant benefits to ejaculating multiple times (Picture: Getty) If you’re deep in the midst of No-Nut November, you may want to reconsider – if not for your sanity, but to reduce your risk of prostate cancer. Research actually shows that ejaculating as much as once every day can really limit the chances, while another study suggests a staggering 21 orgasms a month reduces a man’s likelihood of prostate cancer by 20%. This comes as scientists recently revealed global deaths from the disease are likely to double in the next 20 years. Orgasming 21 times a month yields impressive results for disease prevention, compared to men who come just four to seven times a month, who have a higher chance of getting prostate cancer. The study, published in European Urology followed 32,000 men for 18 years and found that the more they came, the lower the risk of cancer. Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women Hospital scientists also found men reap the benefits from ‘me time’ or wet dreams, with daily ejaculation proving an effective form of masturbation or intercourse. Masturbation could be a great way to reduce the risk of prostate cancer (picture: Getty Images/iStockphoto) We wish we could tell you why this is the case but the experts aren’t exactly sure. They have theorised though, and Dr. Anne Calvaresi, the chair of the Urology Care Foundation’s Prostate Health Committee, suggests ejaculation may protect the prostate by flushing out harmful chemicals that build up in semen. She also explains it is possible men who ejaculate more may have healthier lifestyle habits that decrease their odds of being diagnosed with the disease. First step first, Gigi says to get the prostate involved and it’s something you can do solo or with your other half. ‘Men can have prostate orgasms without stimulation to the penis. The orgasm from your prostate is a full body orgasm, and you feel a tingly sensation all over,’ Gigi explains. Your penis will thank you for... Staying hydrated: Proper hydration supports blood flow and other bodily functions, including sexual performance Changing underwear daily: Wearing clean underwear helps prevent the buildup of bacteria and keeps you feeling fresh Getting enough sleep: Quality sleep is important for hormone balance, including testosterone production Using mild soaps: When cleaning the genital area, opt for mild, fragrance-free soaps to avoid skin irritation and maintain the natural PH balance Source: Yoxly ‘To reach it, you insert a finger or toy into the rectum, hooking up towards the belly button. The prostate feels like a rough-textured gland. The receiving partner may enjoy a variety of different types of prostate stimulation – varying from circular motions, to in-and-out penetration. It’s highly subjective and different people enjoy different things.’ Next Gigi suggests using a masturbation sleeve and recommends the Tenga Flex. https://www.instagram.com/p/C1R77ZiMVBX/?img_index=4 ‘It has a ribbed and grooved design to help men enjoy masturbation to the fullest extent. This toy has all the manoeuvrability of jelly toys, with much easier disinfection and better quality material. Simply apply lubricant, and slip the sleeve over your member,’ says Gigi. If you find you’re flagging a little, take yourself into a different room rather than the bedroom because different surroundings can really help your sex drive. Gigi explains: ‘The bedroom might be the simplest place to…

Map reveals England’s busiest and quietest property markets in 2025

Market Harborough, in Leicestershire, boasts the busiest property market in Engand (Picture: Getty Images) Market Harborough is the most active property market in England and Wales in 2025, driven by commuter links, community appeal, and new developments. Analytics company PropertyData looked at the number of property sales per 1,000 households from summer 2024 to summer 2025 to identify the most active housing markets, as well as the areas where sales activity has slowed down. Market Harborough recorded 54.3 property sales per 1,000 households between summer 2024 and summer 2025, propelling it to the top of the list. This figure makes the market town more than two and a half times as active as Dagenham in East London, which registered just 19.2 transactions per 1,000 households, and was the quietest market in the analysis. Market Harborough’s thriving property scene is attributed to a combination of excellent commuter links, local amenities, and community appeal. Nez Carey, branch manager at Connells estate agents, told the Daily Mail: ‘People are drawn here as it has everything you could need – it’s really well connected and great for commuters, with London just an hour away by train, it feels very safe and has great schooling, there’s plenty of shops, restaurants and markets, and the town has a wonderful community feel.’ These elements contribute to a robust sales and rental market, further supported by new-build developments increasing housing supply. Where are the busiest property markets in England? Alongside Market Harborough, other towns showing significant property activity include Beverley in East Yorkshire and Northwich in Cheshire. Beverley, known for its historic parish church and busy hospitality sector, and Northwich, recognised for its artisan markets and cultural festivals, provide a range of housing options appealing to buyers. The busiest markets tend to be in areas that combine affordability with convenient commuting times, typically within an hour of London. These areas offer more spacious homes, gardens, and community atmospheres appealing to buyers priced out of the capital. A healthy pipeline of new build homes further sustains transaction volumes. Where are the quietest property markets in England? At the other end of the spectrum, towns such as Dagenham, Rotherham, Dudley, and Wolverhampton have experienced far fewer property transactions. Barking and Dagenham is one of the most deprived boroughs in London, and this economic challenge partly explains its limited market activity. But Wolverhampton, similarly income-deprived, is pursuing regeneration initiatives through large-scale developments like City Centre West and Canalside South, which could increase market activity in the future. The quietest markets are divided between high-cost cities like London, where sharp affordability constraints limit buyer mobility, and former industrial towns like Rotherham and Dudley, marked by stagnant housing supply and weaker economic prospects. The data shows a clear contrast in the English property market, where dynamic, commuter-friendly towns with affordable, growing housing supplies stand in contrast to quieter, economically challenged or unaffordable urban areas. G’aim’e Time Crisis lightgun review – Reader’s Feature

They probably could’ve picked a better name than G’aim’e (Tassei Denki) A reader offers his review of the new mini-console that allows you to play Namco lightgun games on modern TVs, including Time Crisis and Point Blank. I would bet a lot of people haven’t heard of this. So there will be a few Google searches happening when people read it. It started as a Kickstarter project a few months ago and is now getting sent out to backers. I received mine on Thursday 13th and have been playing it loads since I got it. I think there is a retail release in the UK on 25th November, according to Argos. [It’s also available for pre-order at the official website – GC] If anyone hasn’t googled it yet. It is essentially an authentic Namco style gun (or two guns), and mini-console that is the same dimensions as an old school PS1 case. And if you get better than the basic package you get a foot pedal too. The 3 models are: Basic, which is one gun and a console (and only has Time Crisis) Premium, which is one gun and a pedal (and all the games) Ultimate, which is two guns and a pedal (also, all the games) It has some fancy AI in the guns, to accurately map your telly and make it accurate. Due to how it works, it will work with LCD,OLED, and projectors. Expert, exclusive gaming analysis Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Got to say, Time Crisis being 30 years old makes me feel very old, for pouring in £1 a go when I was younger. But, on with the review. The mini-console looks like an old PS1 box (Si-Zero) Hardware: Console (the necessary bit) This is very solidly built and looks exactly like a PS1 game case. It even has the bit at the edge of the case to mimic. On the back there is a USB-C socket for power and HDMI for video. There are two USB-C inputs on the front for two lightguns or one lightgun and a peddle. The hardware is entirely plug and play, you connect the cables and turn it on. It then gives a little instructional video and then drops you into the games. Oddly, to turn it on you have to keep your finger on the power button for five seconds, but to turn it off you just tap it. And presumably, because it is plug and play, it has no form of internet connectivity. So the unit you buy is the unit it will always be (proper old school). Lightguns don’t usually work on modern TVs (Si-Zero) Guns (the fun bit) These feel very solidly built, they have an ‘A’ and ‘B’ button, and a coin and menu button. There is also a toggle on the side to turn off force feedback (vibration). They do have a nice weight to them and feel quite substantial. The only negative for me, is that I would have liked the old school arcade experience, where the top bit actually moves back and forward. But the vibration does add a lot to the games. Pedal (the boring bit) I am not taking a picture, it is a pedal. It is made out of very strong plastic and very solid and sturdy. It works exactly as a pedal should. And it is very much needed to play Time Crisis properly. Software: Whenever you boot it up you get a video about how to use it. It doesn’t seem this can be skipped first time but is actually useful. After that it gives you a calibration screen, this moves a target around the screen that you have to shoot three times each. The video explains this. Then it puts you into a list of games and you shoot the one you want to play. When you are done playing, you quit back and choose another game. There are not extra features or options. To be honest, this does bring together the plug and play nature of it. Very basic but easy. Games: I won’t delve into full reviews of the games, but my thoughts and experiences on each are: Time Crisis – This is just as it was in the arcade, a bit difficult and you will die (a lot) at first. The peddle is very much needed to replicate the original feel, as the alternative is pressing a button. Point Blank – This…
