I never watched the TV series Succession. No matter how many awards it won or memes it inspired, I had no desire to watch a show ostensibly about in-family bickering. Isn’t that what Thanksgiving is for?! Alas, a form of Succession was recently dropped into Twins fans’ laps courtesy of our Pohlad Family overseers.
A different show—dating back to the (late) Summer of ‘69—put a more wholesome spin on family dynamics. So with visions of flying footballs (watch your schnoz!), middle child drama, and a jinxed cousin dancing in our heads, let’s sing along to Sherwood Schwartz & Frank DeVol’s catchy tune to review the latest iteration of Pohlad pablum the Twinkie Town way: utter tomfoolery.
Here’s the story, of a guy named Joey
Who was put in charge of our beloved team
In just three years, he blew it all up
Us fans can only scream
Here’s the story, of a guy named Tommy
Who was put in charge of cleaning up to the mess
He made new friends, who said they would help
To lower all the stress
So on one day when Lil’ Joey met Big Tommy
And they hashed out the whole salary crunch
Going forward, the fam would be restructured
That’s the way we all remained the Pohlad bunch
The Pohlad bunch, the Pohlad bunch
That’s the wayyyyy we remained the Pohlad bunch!
