The Golden State Warriors play the New York Knicks on Thursday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on Prime Video.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State is coming off a dominant 119–97 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night. Portland entered the game shorthanded, missing two of its top scorers in Deni Avdija and Jerami Grant. The Warriors took full advantage of that, leading wire to wire, despite a quiet seven-point night from Steph Curry.
The Warriors — specifically their bench unit led by De’Anthony Melton’s season-high 23 points — built a comfortable enough cushion that allowed Curry and the rest of their veteran players to sit out most of the fourth quarter.
What to watch for tonight:
Thursday night’s matchup should be a big one against a Knicks team that currently owns the second-best record in the Eastern Conference at 25–15. However, despite the marquee opponent, much of the attention surrounding the Warriors has shifted off the court as Jonathan Kuminga demanded a trade Thursday morning — the first day he officially became eligible to be dealt. Kuminga has been a DNP in the Warriors’ past 13 games and was not expected to play as the situation continues to unfold.
While the off-court drama presents a potential distraction, on the court, Golden State will catch a break with the Knicks missing key contributors in Jalen Brunson and Mitchell Robinson. The question now is whether the Warriors can stay focused enough to take care of business once again at home.
