Alex Mortensen will not name OC in first season as UAB’s head coach

Alex Mortensen will continue to call UAB’s offense in his first full season as the Blazers head coach. During an interview with the Birmingham Banner published on Thursday morning, Mortensen said he does not plan on naming a new offensive coordinator for the coming season.

Mortensen has served as UAB’s offensive coordinator for the past three seasons. He continued to call the offense last year after being promoted to interim head coach following the firing of Trent Dilfer midway through the season. Mortensen led UAB to a 2-4 record as interim head coach before being promoted to the full-time role in December.
