The Dallas Mavericks (15-25) play their second straight in a four-game homestand on Wednesday night, hosting the Denver Nuggets (27-13) and that game will be played on ESPN. Dallas beat the Nets on Monday night and been essentially playing .500 basketball lately, while gaining no ground in the West. Despite Nikola Jokic being sidelined, the Nuggets are playing pretty well and winning, most recently defeating the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night.
Heres the main things you need to know before tipoff.
- WHO: Dallas Mavericks vs Denver Nuggets
- WHAT: No defense on ESPN
- WHERE: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
- WHEN: 8:30 pm CST
- HOW: ESPN
Dallas is getting walloped by the injury report again but it’s not as bleak as the Nets game and they won that won. Beyond the four we expect to be out, PJ Washington and Brandon Williams are still listed as questionable. I suspect one of the two plays, but I am not sure which. Max Christie is doubtful with an illness, I would guess the same thing that’s made it’s way around the whole team the last 6 weeks.
Denver is also pretty banged up. Nikola Jokic and Jonas Valanciunas have been out for a few weeks. Cameron Johnson hurt himself versus the Mavericks the last time these two team played. Christian Braun hurt his ankle last night and is out. Jamal Murray is questionable but I’m sure he’ll play.

I find myself oddly excited about this game. There shouldn’t be much rim defense, so look for both Cooper Flagg and Aaron Gordon to attack the paint like mad men. Whoever can protect the paint and rebound should win, but you never know when a team will have a three point shooting bonanza.
Consider joining Josh and me on Pod Maverick live after the game on YouTube, we should start LATE. Thanks so much for spending time with us here at Mavs Moneyball. Let’s go Mavs!
