Comment on Steelers Vs Texans Winners And Losers by Rye
In reply to Go Steelers. The big picture problem is that if you don't fire Tomlin now and you go ahead and draft a QB, what happens if we reach this point next year and they decide they do want to fire him then? It's really bad to rip a HC (and thus also all his staff including the OC, QB Coach, etc) out from under a rookie QB. It can ruin them permanently or at least massively set them back requiring years of work to fix. It's just a bad idea and it's also unnecessary. The Steelers front office & Rooney need to think of more than just one or two months ahead for once. This team is ridiculously and clownishly short-sighted during the season and even in the off-season and it's bitten them so many times. This is a problem they could easily side-step but I suspect they'll let it bite them in the butt too and we'll horrendously damage whatever QB we bring in. If you don't think Tomlin is "the guy" for the next 5-10 years--which clearly he is not--he needs to go now before the draft, before a QB comes in and gets used to his system, his OC, his QB coach, his roster of guys, etc. Because right now what matters more than the head coach is the [potential] incoming QB. I wouldn't personally take a QB in this draft cycle but the Steelers continue to insist that it's full steam ahead so they need to focus on the QB and make the QB the priority NOT the HC.
