Alex Kozora is going to love this. Here's my big brained idea...
If Smith would leave it might be enough for Rodgers to move on. He's mentioned wanted two years in the same system. This is my pivot from Smith and Rodgers.
Tomlin hires Green Bay quaterback coach Sean Mannion to be the offensive coordinator. Mannion is a former NFL quaterback that's rising in the coaching ranks. He has ties to the Lafleur/McVay coaching tree which is a hot commodity. If you spent a year getting Sean McVay coffee people give you an OC job and they all seem to have a good bit of success. Mannion actually has some very practical experience in the system as not only a coach, but also a quarterback.
The Steelers sign Malik Willis to replace Rodgers. They also double down and sign Romeo Doubs. Your two "big ticket" free agents signings are completely familiar with the new system and the quarterback especially doesn't have a big learning curve. The Steelers showed interest in both Willis and Doubs prior to there respective drafts and we know they circle back to those guys.
You keep Pat Meyer to have a veteran offensive assitant to aid Mannion in his transition to a more prominent role. The McVay system is a lot of wide zone similar to what Smith has done. Which is how this offensive line was built. It's perfect!!
