Comment on Mike Tomlin Reacts To John Harbaugh Getting Fired By Ravens by cassidy977
In reply to PittShawnC. first off: if you don't care what he has to say, why'd you read this article? the headline made it pretty clear what it was about. what a strange waste of your time. secondly: so did you really think the steelers were going to walk into arrowhead and take out the chiefs in 2021? did you think mason rudolph was going to outgun josh allen in the snow in buffalo in 2023? (a game that WAS competitive, by the way.) that's the problem with these "i believe in the bottom line!" rants. they don't look at the context at all. if your team is punching above its weight, and finally hits a wall, you've done all you could as a coach. you just ran into a better team. same if you have an injury at a key spot that you can't replace. this isn't chess; both sides don't start on equal ground. example: in 1976, the steelers got blown off the field in the AFC title game because franco harris and rocky bleier were both injured. nobody said "looks like noll lost his touch -- time to go!" because that would be stupid. so why isn't it stupid to notice that leveon bell's absence in the 2016 AFC title game cost that team? or ryan shazier's in 2017? and for the record, you're cherry picking with these timestamps. the jags loss started off terrible, and the steelers clawed back. they lost by THREE. i don't remember a lot of three point losses that qualify as "non-competitive." even the cleveland game was only a 9 point loss (and the steelers missed a PAT -- convert that, and it's a one-score game). frantic comebacks are competitive games. it seems like you turn the TV off in at halftime a lot.
