Georgia vs. Ole Miss Sugar Bowl Predictions, Odds, How to Watch

In what is a loaded College Football Quarterfinal slate across New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, perhaps the most fascinating is the Sugar Bowl, which will feature the No.3 Georgia Bulldogs (12-1) taking on sixth-ranked Ole Miss (12-1). The Rebels’ only loss this season came against the Bulldogs back in October.

The biggest storyline for this game might be the coaching on both sides. As most know by now, Ole Miss is without Lane Kiffin, as Pete Golding is now the head of the football program. Kirby Smart has been there, done that in many of these playoff games. This game might also be especially scary for Georgia, as they were in the Sugar Bowl last season and lost to Notre Dame. So, let’s get into the betting market of this College Football Playoff showdown.

How to Watch Ole Miss vs. Georgia

Time: Thursday, Jan 1, 8:00 P.M. EST

Location: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana

Channel: Georgia-Ole Miss will be broadcast on ESPN and streaming on ESPN+ and the ESPN app.

As noted, the Georgia Bulldogs are the only blemish on the Rebels’ schedule, and Ole Miss will be looking to shock the college football world, as not many analysts are giving them as much of a shot because of the coaching disparity.

Georgia vs. Ole Miss Odds, Spread, Over/Under

The betting market for this Sugar Bowl is very similar to that of the first matchup between the two, which was held in Athens, GA. Georgia comes in as a semi-big favorite, and the sportsbooks expect for a lot of points to be scored in this one (similar to the first game).

Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook, and are subject to change:

Moneyline: UGA (-235), $235 bet to win $100, Ole Miss (+194) $100 bet wins $194.

Spread: Georgia -6.5 (-110) Ole Miss +6.5 (-110)

Point total: O 55.5 (-115) U 55.5 (-105)

Georgia vs. Ole Miss Sugar Bowl Prediction

Without further ado, it’s time for my expert prediction on how this game will play out in the betting market. For what it’s worth, I’ve been correct on my last two Georgia Football game predictions.

For the SEC title, my pick was for Georgia to win and cover (they did), and back at the end of November, my prediction was that Georgia would defeat Georgia Tech, but not cover.

Georgia-Ole Miss Prediction: Game total goes over 55.5 points

It’s taking the easy way out slightly by not predicting either Georgia to cover or not to cover, but I really like the points in this matchup, and for the game to be a shootout.

Georgia’s moneyline doesn’t have the best value, and the 6.5-point spread is a little misleading. Had the line moved down to 4.5 or even 4 before Thursday, I would have considered taking Georgia to cover.

However, with how bad Ole Miss’s defense is, especially at stopping the run, it should be anticipated that Gunner Stockton, Zachariah Branch and Nate Frazier should all have good days with the ball in their hands.

And with Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss playing some of his best football. The Rebels should be able to put some points up on the board.
