Not a fan of these stats. They're too situational for me. For example, if it's 3rd and 2 and the Steelers get 3 yards, it's a successful run. If the Ravens get 50 yards, it's still a successful run. The stat is the same, but the Ravens either have a TD or a gimme FG. Whereas the Steelers slow matriculation stalls with one unsuccessful play or penalty.
I don't think the Steelers should run more. They are 17th in YPA, but 28th in YPC. Our passing game is much better than our running game. Why? Because we can avoid our awful OL while passing. Our OL makes our running game so bad that play action doesn't work.
But I wouldn't be surprised if they run the ball more in December and January because of weather.
