Bears practice report: Tight end Colston Loveland limited by neck injury
Chicago Bears tight end Colston Loveland #84 catches a pass during the fourth quarter against the Green Bay Packers in an NFC wild-card game at Soldier Field, Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026.

What happened Friday at Halas Hall:

Loveland concern

The newest issue for the Bears: tight end Colston Loveland was limited in practice Friday because of a neck injury. It’s his first time on an injury report in more than a year.

The injury comes just as Loveland was starting to heat up. After a slow start, he caught 13 passes for 134 yards and two touchdown catches.

Monangai still out

The Bears hoped the extended break between the Patriots and Seahawks games would give No. 2 running back Kyle Monangai a shot to get back on the field, but it looks like he’ll miss his fourth consecutive game with a toe injury. He missed practice again Friday.

Monangai had 324 yards and three touchdowns in the first four games as a complement to D’Andre Swift.

Corner office

The Bears might be OK at cornerback against the Seahawks on Monday as Tyrique Stevenson continued practicing through a hamstring injury and Malik Muhammad (toe) was limited.

Poles on Kmet

General manager Ryan Poles sounded hopeful to have tight end Cole Kmet back next season. Kmet is out the rest of this season with a knee injury and has a relatively affordable out in his contract for 2027, but Poles said the team is working to help him return to “original form” and “the best version of himself.”

Put it on his tab

The NFL fined Bears quarterback Caleb Williams $23,882 for wearing Caddix cleats against the Patriots last week. That’s double the fine he incurred for wearing them against the Falcons.
