Two trailers detached from a semi-truck that struck a concrete barrier on I-80 in the south suburbs of Chicago, prompting a complete shutdown of westbound lanes for several hours on Friday.
Around 11:30 a.m., a semi-truck driver struck the concrete barrier dividing westbound and eastbound traffic on I-80 near La Grange Road in Mokena, according to Illinois State Police. Both of the two trailers the semi was pulling detached in the crash.
No one was injured, but the emergency response and clean up prompted authorities to block all westbound lanes and divert traffic off onto La Grange Road.
Aerial video captured by NBC Sky 5 showed the two trailers detached from the semi and leaning against the barrier as officials continued to work.
All lanes of the interstate had reopened as of 3:49 p.m.
