If you haven’t gotten tickets for Thursday’s game between the Bears and Patriots, you’ll probably have to part with a pretty penny to do so.
Ticket prices are positively soaring on secondary markets, and according to at least one metric, the tickets are the most expensive of any NFL game so far this season.
According to ESPN’s Field Yates, citing data from ticket broker TickPick, the game between the Bears and Patriots is the most expensive that has been seen in the NFL so far this year, with the cheapest ticket costing north of $800 apiece.
As of 5 p.m., the cheapest a fan could score two tickets to the game on TickPick stood at a staggering $871 apiece, according to the website.
Things weren’t much better on SeatGeek, where tickets were starting at $840 apiece, or on StubHub, where tickets were a whopping $909 apiece just to get in the door.
It’s not hard to see why ticket prices for the game have soared. For starters there is the game itself, pitting Caleb Williams against Drake Maye in a battle of two of the top quarterbacks chosen in the vaunted 2024 draft class.
In addition, the Patriots are the reigning AFC champions and have been playing more like it in recent weeks, winning three consecutive games as they head to Chicago to face the Bears.
Not to be outdone, the Bears are coming off a strong game on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, with Williams putting up the best completion percentage of any Bears quarterback who had attempted 30 or more passes in a game according to Pro Football Reference.
Aside from the obvious on-field implications, the game is also a special one because of the tributes the team has planned for Mike Ditka. The game is the first the Bears have played at Soldier Field since Ditka’s death at the age of 86, and there will be a series of fan giveaways and tributes to the former coach and tight end, who just so happened to defeat the Patriots in Super Bowl XX in New Orleans in 1986.
For those not attending the game in-person, kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. on Prime Video.
