Four flight attendants were injured on a United Airlines flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles, the carrier confirmed today.
According to online data, flight 1157 departed Honolulu at 12:48 p.m. Hawaiian-Aleutian Daylight Time and landed safely in Los Angeles at 9:44 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on Wednesday, 20 minutes behind schedule.
The turbulence was brief but sharp, according to passengers, some of whom told media outlets in Los Angeles that they heard a loud bang as the plane seemed to drop suddenly and swiftly.
The Boeing 777 had 190 passengers and ten crew on board and encountered turbulence during descent toward LAX, according to the airline, which reported that no passengers were injured.
“Four flight attendants were seen by medical personnel, including one being transported to the hospital for further treatment,” United said in a e-mail to City News Service.
There was no immediate update on the condition of the flight attendant who was taken to a hospital.
