Good morning, Mets fans!
On Monday night, the Rays defeated the Guardians 7-3 to clinch the American League pennant in six games.
The Rays’ big bats came through when they needed them most behind former Met Freddy Peralta in the clincher, who pitched 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball. Peralta owns a 1.08 ERA in the 2026 postseason across four appearances, which include three starts.
Peralta was named ALCS MVP in a season that started with a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts for the Mets.
A seventh-inning two-run home run by 23-year-old phenom Junior Caminero proved to be the game winner, with Yandy Díaz adding his own two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to seal the series.
The World Series is now set, with the Rays traveling to Milwaukee to take on the 103-win Brewers on Friday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. ET.
