UPDATE: 3:53 p.m.

The Falcons released a statement on Daniels.

Atlanta Falcons linebacker Kendal Daniels is alert and has movement in all his extremities. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

Falcons linebacker Kendal Daniels was carted off the field in the third quarter of the Falcons’ Week 6 matchup against the Bears. The top of his head collided with another player during a tackle on Bears TE Colston Loveland, and he immediately reacted like he was in intense pain.

Daniels’ injury comes after fellow linebacker Divine Deablo left the game with an arm injury. Deablo has been ruled out for the remainder of the matchup. Losing both of these players is a blow for sure, but I have to think it’s especially to focus after seeing a player who’s been so central to what this defense does well go down with such a scary injury.

Prior to leaving the field, Daniels was secured to a backboard. Prior to the medical staff getting involved, right after the hit, Daniels did appear to be moving his arms and hands, so hopefully that’s a good sign.

Daniels has been a fantastic fit for Jeff Ulbrich’s defense, and he’s very quickly developed as a leader on the field. When Deablo went down with the arm injury, it was the rookie Daniels who took over the green dot. Josh Woods swapped out his helmet while the medical team was attending to Daniels to take over the green dot, according to The Athletic’s Josh Kendall.

The Falcons defense has been hit hard with injuries of late. In addition to Daniels and Deablo, cornerback AJ Terrell is on injured reserve, and his counterpart CJ Henderson is out Sunday with a groin injury.

We will update this post as more information becomes available, and we’re wishing Daniels all the best.
