The cool weather will stick around Saturday, but temperatures will turn warmer during the latter part of the weekend and early next week.
While clear skies are on tap for most of the day, very light lake-effect rain showers were moving across the area early Saturday but were set to end around 9 a.m. or so.
Through the remainder of the morning, the few lingering lake-effect clouds will gradually dissipate into the afternoon.
Everyone across the Chicago area will get in on the bright sunshine as it shapes up to be a beautiful afternoon, NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack said. Overall, temperatures will top out around 56 degrees under mostly sunny skies, with southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph.
Make sure you bring a jacket if you have any outdoor plans because temperatures will likely be on the cooler side. Overnight lows will drop to around 40 degrees under mainly clear skies in the city.
It won’t be quite as cool away from the lake, so no frost or freeze advisories are expected. Temperatures will drop into the mid-to-upper 30s away from the lake.
Sunday will bring partly cloudy skies, followed by more sunshine into the afternoon. The forecast high will be 63 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
And we’ll keep the nice weather going, with more sunshine and warmer temperatures.
Highs will climb into the upper 60s Monday and around 70 degrees Tuesday, with temperatures near 70 lasting into next weekend alongside dry conditions.
