‘All clear' issued after active threat reported at Miami University in Ohio

School officials at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio announced an “all-clear” Thursday after a series of emergency alerts sent out reporting an active threat on campus.

The alerts unfolded just after 1 p.m. CT, with school officials saying an “active threat” had been reported on campus, warning people to “be prepared to face a life-threatening situation.”

An alert that followed said there was an active threat with reports of gunfire in the area of McGuffey Hall, and asked people to avoid the area. Shortly after that, school officials said officers checked the area, saying “all is clear.”

About 30 minutes after the initial alert was sent, school officials issued an all clear.

“Safe to resume your daily activities,” the message said.
