Caleb Williams practices again, ‘doesn't know' if he'll play Sunday

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was a full participant in Thursday’s practice, but will he suit up Sunday?

Williams has missed the Bears’ last three games, wins over the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets and a loss to the Green Bay Packers, but he is making progress from the hamstring injury that has left him out of action.

Now, a few days after working out on the field prior to the Packers game and after being a full participant in practice Thursday, does the Bears’ quarterback think he’ll play this week.

If he does know, he isn’t saying.

“I don’t know if I’m playing yet,” he told media at Halas Hall Thursday.

Williams said he will have to go through multiple stress tests before determining whether he’ll be able to play against the Atlanta Falcons, but he said he appreciates the way his team has stepped up in his absence.

“I would like to give thanks to the team, to the guys for being able to step up. I haven’t been in this position in my career, going down midseason, (but) the guys are stepping up, so shout out to my room,” he said.

While he remains uncertain about his game status, he did tell media that he felt good during his workout prior to the Packers game, and felt good during practice on Thursday.

“I go through all the cutting and planting and things like that throughout the weeks, or the past couple of weeks, and it’s felt good,” he said.

Williams was also asked about his visible show of emotion after he suffered the hamstring injury in the Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and he said he’s not afraid to show that vulnerability in life or on the field.

“I’m always going to show emotion, especially when I can’t be out there with the guys. Not being able to be out there was frustrating. That was more of the why behind the tears or whatever it was. (The jokes) don’t bother me,” he said.
