Ranking the Roster: Roundup and open thread

For the first time since its inception, Giannis Antetokounmpo is not the winner of Brew Hoop’s Ranking the Roster series. That honour now belongs to Tyler Herro, who will ply his trade for his hometown team this season (and beyond?). And while this means the Bucks are in a very different state than in years past, less nationally and internationally relevant—and, yes, more likely to accumulate losses—it’s also refreshing and exciting and a chance to build (definitely not rebuild) towards something special again.

In all honesty, looking at our community rankings, things could be far worse. Eight of the top 10 rated players are 27 or younger and there are only three thirty-something-year-olds on the roster altogether (gee, now I feel old). Even better, the Bucks have four legitimate prospects—Ryan Rollins, Brayden Burries, Kel’el Ware, and Nate Ament—who play different positions, have complementary skillsets, combine for an average age of just 21.5 years, and could and should grow together, hopefully forming the next core four of the franchise.

Until then, let’s appreciate the group as a whole, as ranked by you, the Brew Hoop community:

  1. Tyler Herro
  2. Ryan Rollins
  3. Kel’el Ware
  4. Jaime Jaquez Jr.
