A police department in Camden County launched a special operation in response to what officials described as a recent increase in crime and traffic violations.
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, the Winslow Township Police Department introduced “Operation Blitz,” a public safety initiative aimed at preventing crime, promoting traffic safety and strengthen its partnership with the community.
According to officials, as part of “Operation Blitz,” a specialized unit of officers will be dedicated to crime suppression with extra patrols, proactive policing and community contact.
In order to enhance the initiative, the police department will also launch “Community Connect,” which aims to to bring officers and residents together to share information, prevent crime and address neighborhood concerns.
“Winslow Township means everything to us. We are proud to serve this incredible community and grateful to be part of a township where people truly care about one another. Together, we can continue to make Winslow a great place to live, work, and play,” police said.
Here’s what residents can expect during “Operation Blitz”:
- Increased police presence: More officers in areas that are experiencing more crime and traffic violations, along with business checks.
- Accountability with zero tolerance: Ensuring awareness that community safety and trust is important.
- Officers at community meetings: Request police participation in neighborhood, HOA, apartment, senior living or other community meetings to discuss concerns and ask questions.
- Safety information: Provide information on crime prevention tips, fraud and scam awareness and other useful tips.
