Sushi at Wawa? It's a work in progress, spokesperson says

The rumors are true: Sushi is coming to Wawa.

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, a Wawa spokesperson confirmed to NBC10 that the beloved convenience store chain is testing sushi from Sushi Soku, a brand from Hissho Sushi, one of the largest sushi providers in the United States.

According to the spokesperson, Wawa is testing six varieties of cooked sushi rolls, which are made fresh locally and delivered daily to a limited number of stores for sale in Wawa’s Express Grab & Go cases.

“The initial response is very favorable with crunchy and spicy rolls being top choices for our customers!” the spokesperson said.

According to officials, the sushi test reflects Wawa’s commitment to trying new products, formats and services to meet customers’ needs.

The spokesperson said that once the test concludes, Wawa will evaluate customer feedback to determine the future of sushi in its stores.
