A professor of religion at Haverford College has been charged with online harassment and intimidation after, allegedly, making online comments that were antisemitic in nature, the school’s president said on Tuesday.
Professor Guangtian Ha has been placed on administrative leave and is banned from campus as the legal process plays out, Haverford College President Wendy Raymond said.
“Professor Ha, who was on sabbatical leave and not teaching this academic year, has been placed on administrative leave and barred from campus while the criminal process moves forward. A representative of the College has been in contact with the individuals targeted by these heinous online attacks, which were antisemitic in nature,” Raymond said in a statement. “I am deeply distressed by these allegations and want to state in the plainest of terms that any form of harassment or discrimination based on identity is unacceptable, antithetical to our values, and has no place at Haverford.”
Campus Safety, the Haverford Township Police Department and the FBI assisted in the investigation, Raymond said.
Resources were offered to students and anyone who experience harassment or discrimination at Haverford College was urged to report it here.
