Ready or not, it’s time for Brooklyn Nets basketball.

If you aren’t aware by now, it’s a new era in Brooklyn and it should include less tanking, more winning. They’ll face off against the Charlotte Hornets to kick off this so-called new era — both tonight for the preseason debut and also for the Nets season opener on Oct. 21. Preseason doesn’t get much hype, but you can count on the Nets to play hard. After all, most of the regular season rotation is active.

On the other hand, Mikel Brown Jr. rolled his ankle early in training camp and won’t suit up. Sean Marks told reporters at Media Day that he doesn’t anticipate this being a serious injury.
