
Let's be clear - Ryan Poles spent the Bears into cap danger territory. It was a perfectly understandable move by a GM who was in danger of being fired.
To be clear - I don't blame Poles for that. You, or I, would have done the same.
But the cap situation is a fact in being. The Bears cannot afford to give Wright a huge deal based on one year of performance. And despite his size, he still gives up too many passes.
Most likely, he is a product of the system, enjoying something of a fluke year. The Bears should enjoy. In the offseason, he will likely a big contract from another GM seeking to save HIS job. And that's OK.
