The Philadelphia Flyers completed their first three days of a shortened training camp with an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday morning. They’ll be off on Sunday before getting back into things on Monday.
However, not all of the players who were on the ice the past few days will be joining them.
The Flyers announced their first round of roster cuts on Saturday afternoon, and there really aren’t any surprising names in the bunch.
They have assigned eight players to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, with their training camp getting underway soon.

The Flyers have also loaned seven players back to their respective junior teams:

Most of these players were in Group C for the first two days of training camp, with Groups A and B consisting of those who have a fighting chance at making the NHL roster.
Andrew Perrott is the lone Phantoms defenseman who was a part of Group A or B during the first two days of camp. That may have been simply to get an even number of blueliners in that Group B, though.
Flyers’ top draft picks returned to juniors after training with NHLers
Among the players returning to juniors are this year’s top two draft picks, Maksim Sokolovskii and Brek Liske. Both of these defensemen were on the ice with Group A for the first two days of training camp, and Sokolovskii, in particular, had some impressive moments.
Liske was paired with Ty Murchison for his two days of training camp, while Sokolovskii was on a pair with Rasmus Ristolainen. That’s a duo that not many players would want to go into the corner against.
Sokolovskii will return to the London Knights in the OHL for his second season with the club. He put up eight points and 49 penalty minutes with a plus-10 rating in 44 games in his first season in the OHL, improving in the second half of the campaign by all accounts. It’s going to be exciting to see what he can do in what should be his final year in London as he is committed to the University of Maine for the 2027-28 season.
Liske is returning to the Everett Silvertips in the WHL for his third full season. He got a cup of coffee in Everett with two points in three games in the 2023-24 season, then played 66 games in he 2024-25 campaign and 52 games last year.
He, too, impressed later in the season, especially on a pair with the presumptive 2027 first overall pick Landon Dupont. After putting up 24 points in the regular season, Liske broke out for 17 points in 18 postseason games with the Silvertips. We’ll see how Liske is able to develop with Dupont playing his draft year at the University of Michigan.
The Flyers now have 42 players remaining in training camp ahead of their first preseason game on Monday night against the Washington Capitals in Hershey, PA.
