Ken Walker Earns AFC “Offensive Player of the Week” Honors | The Mothership
Walker earned AFC “Offensive Player of the Week” honors for Week 1 after the veteran tailback amassed a career-high 191 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns in Monday night’s victory over Denver. The reigning Super Bowl MVP recorded 179 yards after contact in the game, breaking a league-most 14 tackles along the way. He also ripped off two runs of 20+ yards in the game, nearly matching the Chiefs’ combined total number of runs as a team all of last year (3).
“I’m just here to do whatever I can,” Tonga said. Usually that will be playing in the middle of the defensive line. That’s where Tonga has played throughout his six-year career with four teams until signing with the Chiefs. Last season, playing for New England, Tonga took 14 offensive snaps.
“I’d like to claim I brought him in to play fullback,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said. “We knew he had done that before.”

Mahomes didn’t have the strongest stat line in the Chiefs’ 31-10 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday night. He completed 15 of 27 passes for 184 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. But he also ran for a 15-yard score in the first quarter, making a vintage Mahomes-like play.
“Patrick Mahomes, are you kidding me? He might be able to contribute something to this offense as well,” Brady said. He wasn’t avoiding any contact [on Monday night]; I’m sure of that.
Aside from a first-quarter holding call that nullified a Mahomes touchdown run, Benson had no other major blemishes during his excellent debut. The 2026 national champion didn’t allow a single pressure in the first half and gave up just one in 32 pass-blocking snaps.
Although Moore has seen more action at left tackle than the right side in his career, the Chiefs trusted Benson over him, and he couldn’t have done any better. His 3.2% pressure rate was the best among rookie offensive tackles in Week 1.

“I feel good,” Burrow said. “Just normal game day soreness, that’s for sure, but I will be all right.”
Burrow called the injury “back tightness.”
As for the notion that he would sit out Sunday as a precaution, he didn’t hide his feelings.
“That’s ridiculous,” Burrow said.
Colts’ Keenan Allen formally charged, faces two misdemeanors | ESPN
Allen, 34, was arrested by Indianapolis police on Aug. 30 and preliminarily charged. On Tuesday, prosecutors officially filed charges of operating a vehicle with alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by ESPN, Allen’s blood-alcohol level was tested at .224, triggering a more serious Class A misdemeanor charge per Indiana law. Operating while intoxicated is considered a Class C misdemeanor.

Before the season began, former Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick predicted the Fins could go 0-17 in 2026. After one week, he’s not scrambling away from that suggestion.
On a promotional tour for Amazon Prime’s first Thursday Night Football game this week, the QB-turned-analyst doubled down in comments to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Fitzpatrick’s logic stems from Miami’s overhauled roster, thanks to deals given out by the previous front office.
“Part of it is self-inflicted with all the dead money,” Fitzpatrick told Jackson. “They’ve got over $180 million in dead cap. Tua (Tagovailoa), Tyreek (Hill), Jaylen Waddle, (Bradley) Chubb, (Jalen) Ramsey, Minkah (Fitzpatrick) — all those guys that are on the books but not on the roster; that’s part of it.”

In addition to the positive news about Delane, there was an unfortunate update on second-year linebacker Cooper McDonald. Last year’s rookie minicamp tryout signing has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list and will miss at least four games. He suffered a knee injury during Monday night’s game.
Reid also said safety Chamarri Conner (Knee) and left tackle Josh Simmons (Back) would not practice Wednesday.
