While the team still has hope, the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice week began Wednesday without starting tight end Brock Bowers and conerback Darien Porter working on the practice field.

Before practice began, Las Vegas coach Klint Kubiak said neither Bowers nor Porter will practice. However, he said he is hopeful they could practice this week before Sunday’s game at the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Like he said Monday, Kubiak said both Bowers and Porter are “day-to-day.”

Bowers missed a Week 1 victory over the Miami Dolphins because of a knee surgery he had last Tuesday. Porter left the Miami game late in the fourth quarter with a foot injury.

Michael Mayer started for Bowers and rookie Zeke Masses played the final 10 plays of the game for Porter.

Earlier Wednesday, ESPN reported the Raiders don’t considers Bowers’ injury overly serious and he could play this week, but the team won’t allow him back until he’s completely ready. The reported estimated Bowers will miss a total of three games at maximum, thus he would surely be back for Week 4’s home game against the Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Chargers’ receiver Ladd McConkey isn’t practicing Wednesday because of a ribs issue that could keep him out of Sunday’s game.
