Chiefs Kingdom had few worries after the Kansas City Chiefs’ 31-10 Week 1 victory over the Denver Broncos. The wall-to-wall win produced only a few negative headlines.
The injury to rookie cornerback Mansoor Delane (Shoulder) topped that list. After an incredibly smooth interception on the team’s opening drive, he left the game and was ruled questionable to return; eventually, in the second half, he was ruled out.
On Wednesday, before the first practice of the week, head coach Andy Reid updated local media on Delane’s status.
“Delane is back,” Reid said. “He’ll be out there today, doing his thing.”
Later on, Reid said, “There’s a pretty good chance [Delane] is back out there Sunday.”
In addition to the positive news about Delane, there was an unfortunate update on second-year linebacker Cooper McDonald. Last year’s rookie minicamp tryout signing has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list and will miss at least four games. He suffered a knee injury during Monday night’s game.
Reid also said safety Chamarri Conner (Knee) and left tackle Josh Simmons (Back) would not practice Wednesday.
