After debuting their latest single, “Fantasyland,” rising pop trio Moody Joody has announced the release of their debut album, Plain Jane, set for release on Oct. 30. Produced by Andrew Pacheco, the album evokes the nostalgic sounds of 2010s indie-pop music.
“My baby holds my hand when I cry… lying in my fantasyland…staying here as long as I can,” co-lead vocalists Kayla Hall and Kaitie Forbes sing in “Fantasyland” over bright synths and reverb.
Moody Joody is hoping that this album will bring back millennial hopecore in a big way. Listeners will be transported back to the Tumblr days as the electro-pop music fills their ears and cures their existential dread.
“[the idea for ‘Fantasyland’]…was inspired by a conversation I had with my therapist,” says Hall, co-lead vocalist and synth player. “I had been caught up in a toxic cycle with an ex and she candidly told me I was living in a ‘Fantasyland’ in regards to thinking the dynamic was going to change. I was still in a place where I was romanticizing this relationship dynamic and this person and who we were as people.”
After recently performing a sold-out show at Nightclub 101 in New York City, Moody Joody is set to perform at Maine’s 8123 Fest in January 2027.
