As the 2026 Minnesota Golden Gophers football season begins on Thursday night, we will take a look at some of the improvements and changes that the University of Minnesota has made to the Huntington Bank Stadium amenities and gameday experience. Many of the things that have been chanced for 2026 have been asked for for some time, so its good to see someone is listening.
New Security and Entry Screening:
The University of Minnesota has added Open Gate screening technology to all of the entry gates at Huntington Bank Stadium. This system is set up to operate like the ones seen at Minnesota professional sports venues where ticketholders should not need to empty everything out of their pockets including phones and keys and will be able to walk through an “open gate” as opposed to your typical medical detector. This system is set up to speed the entry process and hopefully lessen log jams at entry points. The U of M is still enforcing the Huntington Bank Stadium Bag policy as has been previously enforced.
New Audio System:
The U of M replaced the entire audio system in Huntington Bank Stadium over the summer. The original audio technology from when the stadium opened in 2009 was still in use, and was beginning to fail. Rather than repair and patch together a system, the U of M replaced the entire system and upgraded it to bring better audio quality throughout the stadium.
Split the Pot Raffle:
At select Gopher sporting events in the 2026/2027 season Gophers fans will be able to participate in a Split the Pot Raffle as seen at multiple other professional sporting events around town. The winner will take home 50% of the pot while the other 50% will go to the Golden Gopher Fund. Expect to see it at most football games and select basketball and hockey games through the season.
Minnesota Memories
Ever wanted to be on the field pregame to watch warmups? Or how about be on the Tunnel team? Previously these experiences were just available to Gopher Loyalty Program participants or large donors. But now, if you are willing to pay the price the change is yours for the taking. Tons of opportunities are available pregame, during the game and postgame.
