The Chargers have plenty of needs along both of their offensive and defensive trenches, but that’s not stopping them from doing their due dilligence on this year’s group of free agent wide receivers. Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Chargers are one of the notable teams who are “in on” the veteran wide receiver market.
The most notable name left on the market is veteran Mike Evans who has spent the past 12 seasons in Tampa Bay. Per Schultz, teams are believing the chances of Evans leaving the Bucs is “serious” with the two sides remaining apart on a deal while legal tampering gets underway Monday. With the Colts and Alec Pierce agreeing on a massive contract right as the legal tampering window opened, Evans is now the top free agent at the position.
Other veteran wideouts include younger options in Wan’Dale Robinson and Romeo Doubs, but neither have anywhere near the track record of Evans. If a team is looking for that missing piece to an offense that would immediately benefit all others in the room, Evans is that guy.
