According to a source who spoke with DailyMail.com, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are "horrified" and in "crisis talks" over how to handle the fallout from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson's ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

To make matters worse, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office for allegedly giving information to Jeffrey Epstein while he was the U.K.'s trade envoy. According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were "extremely upset" by the ordeal. "I'm sure they weren't expecting it," she told DailyMail.com. "It's really embarrassing and distressing for them both."

Ingrid Seward believes the drama forced Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie to rethink everything about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson. "All the doubts will have come crashing in — those holidays they had as children, the funds their father put in their bank account, all the lovely things they enjoyed," she said. "Sadly, they're going to start doubting everything their father ever told them."

Due to their parents' mistakes, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie may pay the price. "They should renounce their titles. That's the first thing they should do because that's why there is interest," author Andrew Lownie told Daily Express.

Andrew Lownie said Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie should stop banking on their association with the royal family to avoid taking attention away from the causes they're passionate about. "They need to stop using their royal status in order to make money for themselves, which is exactly what their parents did," he said. "I think we also need to look very carefully at some of the charities. Is this all about laundering their reputations, or is this a genuine desire to help? Are they being paid to do stuff?"
