Pioneer Productions is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of Steel Magnolias, the timeless classic by Robert Harling. The performances will run from Nov. 14-23, 2025, at The Stage at Fellowship Hall in the Morristown United Methodist Church at 50 South Park Place.
Made famous by the 1989 film of the same name, this drama is set in a small-town Louisiana beauty salon. The story follows a close-knit group of friends as they navigate life’s joys and sorrows with wit, warmth, and unwavering support for one another. With its rich dialogue, unforgettable characters, and emotional depth, Steel Magnolias is a powerful tribute to friendship, love, and the enduring spirit of community.
At the helm of this production are Tom Olori and Miriam Salerno. Both Olori and Salerno are veteran Pioneer performers making their Pioneer Productions directorial debut as a team. Salerno is a first-time director, having appeared in several Pioneer main stage shows, including Tiny Beautiful Things, God of Carnage, Lost in Yonkers, and Dinner with Friends. Olori shared the stage with Salerno in God of Carnage and brings decades of directorial and production experience to the team.
The cast is star-studded, featuring well-known and talented New Jersey actors, including Pioneer co-founder Shanna Levine Phelps in the role of M’Lynn and Luana Cook Scott, head pastor of Morristown United Methodist Church, returning to the Pioneer stage in the role of Clairee (Scott previously starred in the 2024 production of Godspell). Other cast members include Angeline Wedemeier as Shelby, Gabrielle Visser Trumbull as Ouiser, Emilie Farrell as Truvy, and Tristen DeChiara as Annelle.
Dates: Nov. 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23. Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 3 pm.
Venue: The Stage at Fellowship Hall (Morristown United Methodist Church), 50 South Park Place, Morristown, NJ.
Tickets: $25 for General Admission and $30 for VIP seating
