Blissfield Issues Statement on Chief Greenleaf

BLISSFIELD — The Village of Blissfield has issued an official statement following an off-duty incident involving Chief of Police Dale Greenleaf.

According to Village Administrator Danielle Gross, the incident occurred while Chief Greenleaf was off duty and sustained injuries. In response to the circumstances, he discharged his personal firearm, resulting in two dogs being shot.

The Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office has reviewed the matter and determined that no criminal charges will be filed. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office also participated in the investigation.

Based on the findings, the Village of Blissfield will not take personnel action against Chief Greenleaf. Officials say the village supports the conclusions reached by both agencies.
