Hyderabad: In view of the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, Hyderabad Police have intensified security checks across the constituency and nearby areas, conducting surprise inspections at lodges, guest houses, service apartments and hostels to verify the credentials of occupants.

According to officials, the move is a preventive measure to ensure that non-locals and non-voters do not influence the electoral process or disturb peace in the constituency.

Police teams have been deployed under the supervision of senior officers to inspect accommodation facilities and verify identification details of those temporarily residing in the area.

The searches are being carried out in coordination with Election Commission flying squads and local police stations. “These checks are aimed at maintaining transparency and ensuring a free and fair polling atmosphere. No action will be taken against genuine visitors or business travellers,” said a police officer.

Police are also keeping a close watch on the movement of cash, liquor and political gatherings in sensitive areas of Jubilee Hills and its surroundings.

Additional check posts have been set up, and night patrolling has been intensified.

The by-election for the Jubilee Hills Assembly seat is scheduled for November 11, and tight security arrangements have been made with the deployment of over 1,600 personnel to prevent any untoward incidents.
