Slavery of Africans in Africa was widespread well before Africans sold other Africans to the Arab world and before the trans-Atlantic slave trade began in the 16th Century. Know that what was acceptable and an institution hundreds of years ago in many of the Colonies was changed through Civil War. We the People stopped it, not by Royal Decree. And while many laud the Brits for ending Slavery earlier, they paid reparations to slave owners, not slaves. I appreciate the study and scholarship of surrounding the current research. I do not appreciate attempts to eradicate history rather than learn from it.
