By now, just about everyone associated with our Miami Dolphins believes that former starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has taken his last snap as a Dolphin or at least his last snap as the starter for the team. I think the bigger question surrounding Tua is how the team will manage to get him off the roster, given his horrible contract and the very negative cap implications. It also seems as if rookie and late-season fill-in Quinn Ewers is unlikely to be the long-term answer at the position (although I could see Ewers developing into a good long-term answer at backup). Zack Wilson was also given a chance to reboot his career in Miami, but looks to only be a somewhat viable answer at backup for a game here and there, and that might be generous.
So all of that leaves us with what does this team do at quarterback this upcoming season? Do they just ride it out with Ewers until the 2027 NFL draft, when there is reportedly a much better crop of quarterbacks set to leave college? Do they dive into free agency with the hopes of finding someone who is, at the very least, serviceable until they can bring in someone else? Do they try to find a hidden gem in the upcoming draft despite having so many other holes to fill?
So with all of that, this evening’s Phinsider Question Of The Day is:
What do you want to see your Miami Dolphins do this offseason to address the quarterback situation, be that a permanent answer or just for a guy to get the team by until the right guy comes along in the draft? AKA What would you do if you were the Miami Dolphins’ new General Manager?
