A man and a woman are dead and a third person was critically wounded in an apparent murder-suicide inside a Bronx apartment, according to police and law enforcement sources.
A call came in to first responders just before 8 a.m. Thursday about a person shot at the Winston Churchill Building on Johnson Avenue near Kappock Street in Spuyten Duyvil, the FDNY said. The gunfire took place in a lower level apartment, police said, leading to a doorman calling 911.
A 55-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman were found dead, according to police. It is believed that the man was the shooter and took his life after killing the woman.
Additionally, EMS treated an 86-year-old woman at the scene who was rushed to Harlem Hospital in critical condition.
All three of the people involved are believed to have lived in the building, though a connection beyond that among the three was not immediately clear.
Police said they were not searching for anyone else involved, and there was no further risk to the public.
