As the New England Patriots headed inside the WIN Waste Innovations Field House, so did Joshua Farmer.
The rookie defensive tackle’s 21-day practice window has been opened leading up to the AFC Championship Game.
Farmer, 23, went on injured reserve in December after sustaining a hamstring injury in the first quarter of what became a 28-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. Missing four games between the end of the regular season and the start of the postseason, he officially became eligible to practice on Wednesday.
Selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft at No. 137 overall, Farmer has made 13 appearances during his rookie year in Foxborough. The 6-foot-3, 312-pound product of Florida State stands 15 tackles into his career, including one for loss. He has also had a hand in one fumble recovery and one batted pass.
A three-game starter as part of the interior rotation, Farmer’s stay spans 224 snaps on defense and 17 snaps on special teams.
The Patriots currently carry a full 53-man roster and 17-man practice squad. The AFC’s No. 2 seed activated cornerback Alex Austin from injured reserve ahead of the divisional round and also recently opened running back Terrell Jennings’ practice window.
Head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters that veteran wide receiver Mack Hollins, who landed on IR due to an abdomen injury last month, would not be on the field for Wednesday’s practice.
