Reeder initially committed to play under Matt Campbell’s staff at Iowa State, signing with the Cyclones on Early Signing Day on December 3rd. Once Campbell moved over to Penn State, Reeder was granted a release from his signed letter of intent and opened up his recruitment, with Missouri joining Penn State as the a primary suitor for him. After taking an official visit to Happy Valley last weekend, Elijah had apparently seen enough to convince himself that Penn State was the right place for him, pulling the trigger for the Nittany Lions.
Elijah put up 50 tackles, including 19 for a loss and eight sacks in his senior year at Central Regional H.S. in New Jersey. A quick look at his highlight reel above showcases a stand-up edge rusher who has that quick initial burst to get past his opposing blocker and wreak havoc in the opponent’s backfield. He looks built more like a linebacker or safety as opposed to a defensive lineman, but some quality time in the strength and conditioning program should help bulk him up and make him durable as a Big Ten edge rusher. Overall, Elijah’s 6-foot-8 wingspan to go with his over 6-foot-4 frame and his speed has all the makings of a future key contributor to the D-line.
