Canada’s oil exports to China, unless they are paying with gold, must doom Canadian manufacturing. To pay for the oil, China will export manufactures to the Canadian market. The more oil Canada exports, the smaller will become its non-oil industry. Canada would be better off building up its industry for domestic consumption and exporting less oil. It is easier then ever with modern automation. Automatic production will doom the West unless we do it first.
