In reply to Steeler Jeewan. That was where my mind went immediately, as well. Of course they spend money on players. Whether that's retaining their own players or not is pretty irrelevant. With assistants, they historically promote from within, they keep assistants who aren't performing well until their contracts run out. I believe I've read they have one of the smaller coaching staffs in the league, and outside of Tomlin's salary, I would bet the rest of the money spent on coaching was at or near the absolute bottom of the league. With absolutely zero information, I think we would all guess that they're probably lacking in the high-level analytics guys that so many teams rely on.
