Most likely due to sentimental reasons seeped in Steelers lore and tradition, I'd much prefer one of these younger, up-and-coming guys, like Shula or Scheelhaase, to an older, more established coach.
The thought of hiring a guy like McCarthy, then "running it back" with Rodgers et al sends shivers down my spine.
This hire needs to be looking ahead for the next five, ten years and beyond, to establish a Next Gen version of the Steelers, as we've had under Noll, Cowher, and Tomlin. I love what I've see from both Shula or Scheelhaase, but don't look at them as a package deal. If we hire one or the other, I presume they'd be better matched with a more vested, experienced OC and DC. But who knows.
