Police, FBI responding to ‘incident' at south suburban bank

A large police presence was responding to an “incident” outside a Blue Island bank Wednesday morning, with both local enforcement and the FBI on scene.

The FBI Chicago Field Office confirmed to NBC Chicago that law enforcement was responding in the vicinity of 11000 block of South Western Avenue.

Photos and video captured by NBC Chicago photographer George Mycyk and Sky 5 showed multiple police vehicles and officers surrounding a US Bank branch, at 11960 S. Western Ave.

A large perimeter with yellow tape could be seen set up around the building and the intersection, with police directing local traffic away from the area.

The city of Blue Island did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago’s request for information.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
