The Mach 1 version of the Ford Mustang debuted in 1969, offering the best engine and all the performance parts the factory made straight from the showroom floor. After the Shelby program ended that same year (but sales for the GT350 and GT500 continued in 1970), the Mach 1 took over as the top dog in the Mustang line-up in the seventies.
